VIP Pet Insurance Covers the Accidents in Our Pets' Lives

VIP pet insurance is a term that generalizes the pet insurance industry. It shows that our Very Important Pets need health care insurance too.

VIP pet insurance is not an actual company and is not to be confused with VPI (Vet Pet Insurance). My god, it took me forever to figure that out. Here I was searching the internet for a place that would give me an insurance quote for VIP pet insurance and all I seemed to find was generalizations and frivolous arguments as to whether or not pet insurance is necessary or just overkill.

The pet insurance option probably began with famous pets like Lassie, Benji and Rin-Tin-Tin and as time has gone by many celebrities with pets have furthered the pet insurance cause. It stands to reason that if you need a body guard, your dog might need one too. You never know when some crazed fan will take your dog and demand a ransom.

Animals that are made famous on the screen are often insured. The term VIP can also be used to indicate that there are extra conditions or criteria covered by the pet insurance policy that a normal house pet might not need. As an example, Paris Hilton's Chihuahua, Tinkerbell recently became lost. Luckily Tinkerbell was recovered with minimal incident, but what if Tinkerbell was pet napped? I guarantee you that the person who abducts Tinkerbell would ask for at least $1 million in ransom. After all, this is Paris Hilton we are talking about and she seems to have a lot of disposable income. A pet insurance policy that had increased premiums, but would cover such a thing as a million dollar ransom can be considered a VIP pet insurance policy.

Any way you look at it, pet insurance of any kind can be referred to as VIP pet insurance. All of our pets are very important to us. They fill our hearts with joy and we love them for it. Just as human family members have health insurance, so to should our four-legged family members.

In the past some people (usually non pet owners) have stated that pet insurance is not necessary. Sometimes pet owners feel the same way too, but there are a ton of reasons to get your pet insured. Life is always unpredictable. We can never go back in time to erase mistakes, but we can try our best from letting them happen again.

The veterinary community has made leaps and bounds in regards to the quality of health care that they can provide to a pet. Many diseases that were considered untreatable are now treated and in some cases cured. Anything from amputations to zoological diseases, veterinary medicine has come a long way, and the treatment for this range of conditions can be very expensive.

Pet insurance (VIP or not) is a way to insure that our pets get the best veterinary care in the worst of times. I know that when my dog had cancer and the vet bills were $1,000 to diagnosis and $350 per chemotherapy treatment, my pet insurance became a life saver. Although the cancer was terminal, the chemotherapy gave us 6 wonderful months; one uncomfortable day every three weeks and a total of about $4,400 in vet bills (of which my pet insurance covered 75% of - a total of $3,300) was a small price to pay for the best days of me and my dogs' life.
