RSPCA Offers Pet Insurance

The RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) offers animal care and animal related services for the UK and Australia. Not only will you be getting pet insurance, you will be helping a worthy cause.

The RSPCA is an organization that has the welfare of animals as its number one priority. That fact alone should lead you to believe that they want what is best for your pet, just as you want what is best for your pet. They began to offer pet insurance as a means to allow pet owners to make easier decisions when it comes to paying for the care that any pet needs. You are more likely to treat your pet for a serious condition if you know that you will be able to afford it.

As a pet insurer, the RSPCA offers good low cost pet insurance that will help you to cut veterinary expenses by up to 80%. It will be 70% or 80% based on the policy level that you choose. Accidents happen, pets get sick and injured and you want to provide the best veterinary care that money can buy. The RSPCA has policies that cover anything from a broken toe nail to life threatening cancer.

The RSPCA is probably one of the best low cost pet insurances in the UK and Australia because of their exclusions. They exclude a fair amount of conditions from reimbursement, but that is only to keep your premiums low. As an example, you can open a policy on your pet at 8 weeks of age and keep the policy for the life of your pet. If however, your policy lapses, your pet will no longer be covered after 9 years of age.

RSPCA pet insurance is an excellent insurer when it comes to accidents that:

Are the "direct consequence of at least one of the following:
a) motor vehicle incident;
b) burn or electrocution;
c) fall from an elevated position;
d) the actions of another animal;
e) swallowing a foreign object requiring surgical or endoscopic removal;
f) snake bite; or
g) allergic reaction to an insect bite other than tick and flea bites.
Or otherwise result in:
h) a fracture;
i) a broken bone;
j) a traumatic ligament or tendon injury; or
k) lacerations, abrasions or wounds."

This is quoted directly from their policy booklet and should give you thorough example of what they cover. But, their coverage is not limited to that as they also cover illnesses that may or may not be common. You can choose policy options that best fit your needs if necessary.

I highly recommend that you look through their policy booklet to see if the RSPCA is the right insurer for you. It is available at: http://www.rspcapetinsurance.org.au/Files/RSPCA_PolicyBooklet(102007).pdf

The RSPCA seems to believe that if you are a pet owner, there are many illnesses, diseases and injuries that can be prevented by simple due diligence on your part. Annual check ups, deworming, anything that is routine and easily maintained by the owner. It is the accidents and sudden illnesses that can cause a pet owner to file bankruptcy or go into severe debt that an RSPCA pet insurance policy is the best equipped to take care of for you. Keeping that in mind, RSPCA pet insurance is a good, low cost option for protecting your pocket book in the event that your pet is injured or stricken by sudden illness.
