Pet Care Pet Insurance
PetCare pet insurance is an excellent option for old and young pets alike. They insure cats and dogs and plans can be tooled to suit the needs of your pets.
PetCare is the only pet insurer that I know of, to claim the potential for 100% coverage and reimbursement of veterinary costs. The top 10 conditions that PetCare paid for in April of 2009 are and I quote:
Claim Filed: Average Amount Paid:
- Neurological Problems $5,000.00
- Anemia $4,982.56
- Heart Conditions $4,626.65
- Kidney Problems $4,391.48
- Gastric Torsion $3,949.64
- Cruciate Ligaments $3,661.47
- Osteosarcoma (bone cancer) $3,512.84
- Uro-genital problems $3,000.00
- Lymphoma $3,000.00
- Intervertebral Disk Disease $3,000.00
That is a ton of money that PetCare has saved pet owners. When it comes to conditions like these, the last thing you want to talk with your veterinarian about is money. If you have a pet insurance policy like the ones that PetCare offers, the money issue becomes a lot easier to put on the back burner.
PetCare is available for Canada, the UK and the US. They offer 6 policies, QuickCare First, Senior, Plus and Optimum, MasterCare and MasterCare Complete. All of these policies have restrictions to varying degrees. The QuickCare policies have more exclusions and uncovered ailments and that helps to keep the premium down, but they also cover 100% of the cost associated with the ailments that are covered, after the $75 deductable, where as the MasterCare plans have higher premiums, but cover just about the whole spectrum of pet ownership responsibility.
PetCare's web site is honestly one of the few sites I've seen that shows you estimated premiums on the page of each plan instead of making you request a quote. The 6 plans that they offer and the fact that you can easily see what each plan covers makes PetCare easy to research, so let's take a look at a few of the policies.
QuickCare First is designed as a starter program. Illnesses are covered per incident up to $500. Accidents such as foreign body ingestion, motor vehicle accidents, broken bones, possible poisonings, lacerations, burns and allergic reactions are covered up to $1,000. There is also a contingency for your lost pet and euthanasia. There is a $75 deductable applied to each veterinary visit, but the rest will be 100% covered. This plan only costs $15.95 per month.
QuickCare Senior is a very nice plan designed for our older pets. They have given us the best years of their lives and this is a way to pay them back by keeping them happy and as healthy as possible. For an average premium of $35.50 per month, ailments such as strokes, seizures, heart disease, cancer, bone fractures, poisonings, car accidents and foreign body ingestions are covered up to $2,000.
MasterCare Complete is their most comprehensive policy, and their most expensive. At an average of $60 per month, most any condition, accident, illness or injury is covered to a reasonable degree.
All of PetCare's coverage limits are reasonable in regards to being able to cover the cost of an ailment. In other words, if your pet needs x-rays and surgery to remove a foreign object, the $2,000 coverage is an adequate to cover the veterinary bill. Their policies are clear from the get go and so you shouldn't be surprised if something isn't covered when you go to the vet. Overall, PetCare pet insurance is a good option for maintaining the welfare of our beloved pets.
